Hey guys,
I set a side time this tuesday/wednesday to edit together everyones animation. This deadline wasnt met as there was no finshed renders in the files on gonzo. I need them files tomorrow in order for us to actually have animation to present, FINSHED in full by tomorrow before dans class. I have no time other then in dans class to put this to together plus things like sound need to be added. Failure to meet this last deadline will mean your work dosn feature in the final animation.

Progress

Hey kate,

Came into tafe this morning and managed to render out one scene but, one of the textures wasn't on it so I have to render again and don't have time as I gotta leave for work. I've finished all the animation though but I'll have to drop into tafe tomorrow morning to put on the share drive and can splice it into the final video in Thursdays class, sorry! I'll render out at home tonight and upload the videos so you can at least see what I've got.

Right yall, we have this monday to put everything together before the presentation. Which means scenes must be done FINSHED with after affect by tomorrow morning. So far know ones handed anything in so lets getting pumping out some work.

Scene

so evidently, I didn't pay close enough attention to my scene, not knowing it was on the stairs AFTER they leave the

platform so the test camera work I did early last week is I guess, useless, now. But i'll upload it anyway as I did

do it.

I basically pictured them running onto the platform, seeing the dweller, then taking 'cover' in the entrance, jack

shooting at the dweller(s) coming towards him and then lockharte using the light from behind him.

I'll try and get the appropriate scene done first thing thursday in class as I am busy up until

then.

This is just a rough, the pink cyclinders are the shadow dwellers.
Also made a simple walk cycle for the shadow dwelelrs WIP.




Im doing the scenes with the cat but i found when i opened his file that all hi joints bent the worng way so i re-rigged him with custom bones.















The custom for jack is done, the normal biped for him is already finshed and on the shared drive.














for some reason i didnt put the scene i did up here but i did it a while ago it the entrace to the subway :D

Over the mid week break I plan to have the cat scenes almost done and I've been working in the presentation so hopfuly I'll be able to do a practise next lesson.

Next monday is foundation day so we're not in tafe! Due for next week people need to upload a video file of their progress so far on the blog by then. i'll comment on it, this needs to be done by monday because we only have a month and we're already behind scheldal!

Monday 9 th

Basically today you should start animating and have something to show me for next week.
for Dan's assignment you have to re draw out a storyboard for all three of your scenes you can take one or two hours to do that today but please don't focus on it.Take a copy of the character file your working on and start animating you dont need the character open in the scene you can just use proxy geometry and xref the scene later. dont render anything out today if you think you have finshed just simply move on to the next scene or I'll assign you something else if you email me.
Also coz the women isn't fished yet go all of her animation with a biped and save the track out then plug it in to the other model later.

1 re draw storyboard for your 3 scenes with fix ups (again only take 1 - 2 hours for this)
2 take a copy of the character file your working add either proxy geometry or the scene your working on to the file.

Rendering

Things to setup in max before rendering:
-Make sure the animation is running at 25 frames per second
-Make sure the size is 1920 1080
-Get approval on all scenes before rendering them out.
-Render out trga image files not avi's or video files
Animation needs to be finshed before 23rd may or there will be no time for rendering and the animation will be incomplete.

Workflow -

Scenes-


Your scene should be in the shared file if it not get it in there in the next few hours because camera’s and lighting all need to be set up properly.


3D animatic -


Today we all pulling to produce the animatic, this shouldn’t take along as its just working out some basic movements. People of are in today and have done a shot of animatic can you please put it in the shared drive in the shadow of war folder by early this week.


Characters-


People working on characters make sure there rigged/skinned/textured. When they’re done put them on the shared drive


-also when rigging all characters need to have a biped in them so they can be mo capped, if your doing some custom rig’s for Dan’s assignment we can use them for scenes that will be animated manually but they still must be a biped version.


Also people who know they aren’t coming in on Monday can you please email or leave your working files on the shared drive, we have two more weeks to get it together and at the moment it’s looking grim on wether where goanna finish this project on time otherwise.


And everything needs(modelling/texturing/rigging) to be done next week and in the shared files if this isn’t done it will stop us moving forward and will make completion of this project look grim, so get everything on the shared drive.

-A finished version put in the scenes file on the shared drive. In side the file you scene is saved to there should also be a render.


-A dummy camera placed in.


-A basic lighting set up.


At 11:30 all talk to all the people working pn scene about the 3d animatic so we can render out some basic movements

Tube Platform Update


Spent this lesson texturing and a little bit of lighting, lighting still has a ways to fix up. But the bulk texturing is done. Once the texturing and lighs have been fixed up the scene should look a bit more seamless. (i.e the floor to wall is really noticeable) Also ignore the light fixtures, they'll be removed/altered too. And i plan on putting up posters and 'debris' around the platform.

Scene Setup - Basic Lighting




Just been working on Scene 6 (i think) today. Pretty basic underground setup, pretty hard to find a good old picture of the underground so it's half done from reference, half from memory. Single platform, probably going to make it a little longer, not getting very good angles with the cam at its current length. And stairs coming down to the station. Lighting is very basic, just wanted to get a rough idea of how it'll look.

Update



ive done scene 2 and a quick animation test with the cat as just a box... i had it textured but that has corrupted

i also done alot on the cat... i started it in mudbox and as you can see ive put a biped in it and made a start on the envalopes...

i also did a quick test animation for scene 4 but i forgot to save to external harddrive so i have no pictures..

Jack

Here's just an update on how Jack is coming along.

Heres some of the 2d art work for him, still need some work but its getting there.



















To figure out how I wanted his facial features to look I sculpted them in mudbox and I exported the lower level mesh to 3dsmax and Im currently re-topoloising the mudbox export.

Poster Design Feedback

Firstly I'm pleased with the posters overall design but I think when I talked about what I wanted from the poster design I wasn't clear enough I'm just gonna write a few things up here to keep in mind.
A lot of the typefaces you guys are using weren't actually invented at the time, if your unsure about whether a font was invent in the 1940's research it on the net before you use it.

Also the poster at the time mostly used illustration type style which i think would be good to incorporate.

Generic Update

Had a bunch of mesh issues today I managed to enventually sort out, thrown on a jacket and some boots, done the unwrap so about to take into mudbox, should hopefully have it completed fully by next monday depending on how my computer at home handles mudbox
